I became addicted to Army Wives by accident. I got sucked into an episode when I was flipping through the channels one day last fall, and then I soon found myself putting season one at the top of my Netflix queue. The show is now in the middle of its third season, and I have been watching dutifully every week (I usually watch the episodes online the day after they air).
Considering my disinterest in anything related to the military, it's hard to explain exactly what it is that I like so much about this show. Like my previous TV obsession (Grey's Anatomy), Army Wives has a strong cast, characters you actually care about, and interesting plots. Like, stuff actually happens. Stuff that occasionally makes you yell "Holy s**t!" at the television. I guess that's what I like about it...it's "Holy s**t" TV.
What are your guilty TV pleasures?
By "guilty pleasure" I assume you mean a show you're not supposed to like, or is kinda goofy or something like that. The first thing that comes to mind is good ol' Bob Ross & his "Joy of Painting"; gotta love that haircut! Actually, I find him extremely relaxing & was devastated when I heard of his death. He was one of the good guys.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't say that "Joy of Painting" is a guilty pleasure exactly, though it definitely is slightly odd. Bob Ross does have a certain appeal...such a soothing voice! And who doesn't love happy little trees :)
ReplyDeleteYou know mine. And you've watched it. And it was a boring episode. And I'm sorry, but you have to give it another try. Watch the first two episodes of the first season, and then make a decision. I BEG OF YOU!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Next on my queue is Army Wives, so there.
Let me know as soon as you watch it!
ReplyDeleteDoes Drop Dead Diva count? I mean, it's on Lifetime, so it should count, but then again, Proj Run is now, too. P.S. my word verification was "peentehe". Tee-hee.
ReplyDeleteDrop Dead Diva totally counts. Even if it does co-star the fabulous Margaret Cho :)
